CIR’s Mentoring Initiative–Let’s make a difference!
(l to r) CIR Medical Student Organizer Tim Chow,
Dr. Alisha Parada, and Dr. Anthony Flegg counsel a medical student while
tabling at a convention.
Remember not so long ago when you were considering a career in medicine? Or when you were in medical school wondering if you would ever make it to residency? Now you can use your experience as a pre-med,medical student, and resident in the CIR Mentoring Initiative to reach out to current medical students.
Initial projects of the initiative include:
• Helping CIR members connect to their local medical schools and AMSA and SNMA chapters to speak at a luncheon talk or provide a physician voice in a medical student campaign.
• Connecting CIR members with one-on-one mentoring opportunities
• Recording short video clips with advice for students (for CIR's
“Med School Today, Residency Tomorrow” Facebook page)
• Creating a Residency Guide using the input of CIR members
