Staying Connected through CIR – Where to Find Us
When you spend your life in the hospital, it can be hard to keep up with the world outside. CIR can help you stay connected, even if you just have a few minutes to get online. Your colleagues want to hear what you’re up to, whether it’s a new contract, a campaign against budget cuts, or an international service trip.
There are lots of ways to get plugged in to CIR:

We hope you’ll consider getting even more involved as a CIR member this year. We’ve got a lot going on!
CIR’s success over the years has come from our emphasis on three important pillars: collective bargaining, organizing, and patient care advocacy through political action. Residents choose to get involved at different levels, whether it’s joining the negotiating committee to help win a strong contract, advocating on behalf of your patients through letters to the editor or phone calls to Congress, or even helping residents at unorganized hospitals join CIR so they can improve their working conditions.
Together, CIR members have won new or cleaner call rooms, parking spaces, salary increases, better benefits, patient care funds, translation equipment, and many other improvements. We’ve fought to protect our hospitals from budget cuts and have weighed in on proposals to reduce resident work hours.
This year we’ll be tackling the implementation of health care reform, new work hours regulations, and finding innovative ways to deliver patient care that can be models for other hospitals.
There are lots of ways to get involved – and no time like the present!
