LA County Resident Physicians Reach Tentative Deal With County

|

The LA County Committee of Interns and Residents (CIR/SEIU) bargaining team is thrilled to announce that we reached a tentative resolution in our contract negotiations with LA County Sunday, after months of stalled bargaining and recent preparations for what would have been the first resident physicians’ strike by CIR members since 1990.

Following our strike authorization vote and after giving official notice to the County of our plans on Thursday, the County finally presented salary and benefits proposals that are in line with our demands during intensive bargaining with residents Friday night. When we stand united, resident physicians have the power to make historic wins in the labor movement.

The proposal contains significant material gains for resident physicians that we won together in this historic campaign, and the bargaining team is proud to present it to the rest of the members. We will share more details in the coming days about specifics of the tentative agreement and next steps for ratifying our new contract, and in the meantime, we wish to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported us from around the country in the past weeks and months.
