Throughout 2025, residents and fellows have taken to the streets to defend immigrants rights, reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, Medicaid, Medicare, labor rights, free speech, and more, including by participating in “Hands off” rallies across the country.
CIR members have also spoken out at rallies specifically focused on defending Medicaid, as dangerous right-wing cuts loom.
As South Brooklyn Health physician Dr. David LaBay from South Brooklyn Health said, “it is downright inhumane. Every person deserves access to care when they need it, not when they’re forced into a medical emergency. We must save Medicaid/Medicare—our communities depend on it!”
CIR physicians and other workers keep this society running and we will not be intimidated into silence by this administration. We know that in our numbers, and if we organize, we have the power to not only defeat current attacks–but to build a different world.
