DIAR Task Force

The members of CIR’s Diversity, Inclusion, and Anti-racism (DIAR) Task Force develop a national strategy and advance local organizing around health equity, racial justice, and improving social determinants of health for our patients, members, and communities.

DIAR Community Guidelines

  1. Confidentiality – What’s shared in this space stays in this space.
  2. Come with an open mind – Be ready to learn, embrace new ideas, insights, and experiences.
  3. Speak from your own experience – Share your perspective without generalizing or speaking for others.
  4. Be vulnerable and supportive – Create a space where vulnerability is encouraged, and approach each other’s feelings with kindness and without judgment.
  5. Assume good intentions, own your impact – We’re here to learn from our blind spots and biases, and this is an opportunity for growth.
  6. Step up, Step back – Share your thoughts, but also make room for others to share theirs.
  7. One mic, one voice – Use the “raise hand” feature in Zoom to ensure everyone has a chance to be heard.
  8. Respect the facilitator’s guidance – The facilitator will manage the conversation flow and set time limits. If more time is needed, the group can decide together.
  9. Embrace open dialogue – Mistakes are part of learning. Be respectful during disagreements and discussions—they’re vital to growth.
  10. Plan for action – Allow enough time to organize and implement actionable steps that lead to meaningful change.
