Alexis Gordon, MD: Regional VP – No Ca

Our union has done amazing things at our hospital! Working together, we’ve helped unify the house staff around issues like resident and patient safety and foster an amazing relationship between the hospital executives and residents/fellows.

I’ve learned how to tap into many resources offered by our hospital and by CIR, and how to connect my colleagues with these resources. As regional vice president, I’d like to help CIR become more active in policy issues.

I intend to increase resident’s awareness of their own power, their own voice and ability. We are passionate about serving our patients on the individual level, and with the help of CIR in organizing, we can make an even bigger impact regionally and nationally.

We should help the national audience realize the many people who are directly benefited by unions, and not just union members. Our CIR patient care funds, for example, help our patients utilize resources they wouldn’t necessarily have otherwise, and that’s coming from our union!
