CIR Leaders Join Clergy and Healthcare Workers in DC to ask Congress, “What’s Your Plan?”

On Jan. 31, 100 nurses, doctors, home care and child care workers, community activists, veterans, and faith leaders lined the hallways outside the hearing room for Tom Price’s confirmation vote to confront Senator Hatch (UT) and his colleagues, asking “What’s your plan?”

Dr. Dyani Loo, CIR Regional Vice President for New Mexico, and Dr. Donald Brown, a CIR delegate at LAC+USC, joined the nonviolent civil disobedience to demand #CareNotChaos for the 30 million Americans who stand to lose their healthcare coverage if the ACA is repealed without a true replacement. Dr. Brown went as an advocate for his patients in Los Angeles, as well as for his hometown — he was raised next to Flint, Michigan, which has been devastated by a lead poisoning crisis.

Resident voices have been heard loud and clear on the dangers of repealing the ACA. Around the country, CIR members spoke up throughout January at rallies and Town Hall forums about the importance of Medicaid and the ACA for their patients.
