Rhode Island State Legislature Honors CIR Organizing

Following physicians’ historic victory at Rhode Island Hospital-Brown University Health and at Care New England hospitals, the Rhode Island State Legislature honored CIR’s newest northeast members with a special resolution this January.

In her introduction to the resolution, Representative Jennifer Stewart spoke to the importance of labor organizing to fight back against injustices in health care. “How can individuals’ doctors fight against [a profit-driven medical system] and provide better care for their patients? Well the answer is to not fight alone. The answer instead is to organize and make a difference–and that is exactly what these new doctors have done.”

The resolution was specifically presented to new CIR members, Dr. Will Levesque, Dr. Laura Schwartz, Dr. Diana Sibai, Dr. Felicia Sun, Dr. Kit Quain, CIR President Dr. Taylor Walker, and CIR Organizers Michel Horne and Katie Coombs.
